Back to Steve.

Time to get back to Steve.

We are rapidly coming up on the addition of hands, with the near-completion of Steve’s face.

The teeth are UV paint dry brushed on top of an ebony oil base stain. Mutes the UV so it doesn’t light up like a bulb.

Going to be adding some of the paper towel/latex combo to the shoulders/arms this weekend, and then we’ll be getting to the hands.

It suddenly struck me that you haven’t seen Steve under normal light. So, here he is without the blacklight magic:

Korean Style BBQ Beef

I had planned on getting a heck of a lot more painting done to Steve this weekend, but between the Science Fair project being glued together and worked on at the kitchen table and prepping for the Super Bowl, it just didn’t happen.

So, I thought I’ld share yet another recipe that is always a big hit at our parties. I’ve yet to find anyone that doesn’t enjoy these things.

Korean Syle BBQ Beef:
1LB beef sirloin, thinly sliced
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
2 TBL Lemon Juice
2 TBL Sugar
1 Clove Garlic, minced
1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
2 TBL Vegetable Oil
1 tsp Sesame seads
2 Green Onions finely chopped
Bamboo skewers.

You want the beed in thin long strips. And, just skewer those strips onto the bamboo.

Then, mix everything else together and poor over the beef skewers. Marinade for at least 4 hours, turning about halfway through to coat both sides of the beef. I personally like to marinade overnight.

If you are fortunate, you can find thin sliced beef at the store. If not, your best bet is to leave the steak partially frozen to be able to slice it thinly.

Broil or grill the skewers, cook time varies on the thickness of your beef.

In some other news, since I didn’t have a heck of a lot of work on Steve (who needs to be painted in the dark), I’ve put a bit of work into the site. Couple more pages, updates to some older ones…still working on it, it’s a process, but enjoy.

Tshirt is live.

The official An Unorthodox Halloween Tshirt is now available on the sidebar.

This thing has been in the works since before Halloween.

A good friend of mine made this wonderful pucture for me (hey Aro!), and I’ve been meaning to get around to a Tshirt of it for quite some time.

From An UnOrthOdOx Halloween

But, I lacked some technical skills and tools to actually accomplish that at the time.

So, I got another friend to handle the biggest technical hurdle (hey Busters Uncle!), and I’ve been fumbling around the new tools on the computer here to get it to work.

So, I finally can get myself a Tshirt. And, if I understand the mechanics properly, you should be able to as well. Click the customize button and you can add stuff to the shirt, move the pics around, or even remove something if you feel the need.

Steve: Paint trial 3

…And, I think we have a winner.

This is how the thing looks with the light at a decent distance

The rest of these are up close, right under the light with some longer exposure on the camera, so the color is a bit off.

The legs and feet:

A wider shot with the longer exposure.

Get the face finished up, and we can add the hands and finish on the arms. Then once those are painted, I need to decide how we’re wrapping this guy up, and what will look good under the blacklight in that department.

Steve: Paint trial 2

We’re slowly circling in on a proper color for Steve.

Too much white this time. It looked PERFECT on the pallet, but once brushed on, the white overpowered.

We’re much closer to the goal, however. Let this dry and one more trial, I think.
