Cookies.

Fortunately, I was able to enlist some help in this year’s cookie mayhem.

Combined with the smaller cookies this year, we trimmed a good 6 hours off the whole process. Yes, some might be disappointed with smaller cookies, but our schedule and my sanity must take priority.

As always, though, it would not be Christmas without the Three Wise T-Rex.

Jack’s gone!

Yay!!! Jack’s gone!

I was getting worried there for a while.

I know you’re confused. Answers are forthcoming when I get some time.

I don’t know why the paper has not picked this up this year, and it was hell trying to find the info on the internet as well. So, here’s some info on the Luminaries at Leavitt’s Mortuary this year.

This was a lot of fun last year, and I would encourage anyone within range to make it out this year.

Kristmas Kitchen Kalamity 2009.

It has begun…

We have an absolutely psychotic schedule from here to Christmas. And, this weekend begins the Kitchen Kalamity of 2009. So, tonight, I’m getting a jump on things with the Sugar Cookies.

It struck me tonight just how many of these things I’ve made over the years. 14 Christmasses worth of at least 2 batches, sometimes even reaching as high as 6!?!?! And to think I used to make them at Halloween as well…hundreds of batches worth of experience. Bad batches…mistakes…

One thing I’ve taken to lately when making multiple batches of aything, and it becomes an immense help, is to pre-measure all your dry goods ala the cooking shows.

Yet, even in winter, Halloween stretches her touch across the sky.

Best. Toy. Ever.

What happens when you have a father who builds wierdo things out of random junk for Halloween?

You get a wrapping paper stick horse, of course…

In some other news, I had pegged one particular activity as being interesting this season. A “Journey to Bethlehem” at a local church.

When you look at it, this is essentially a haunted house through the story of Christ’s birth. I see these crop up nation wide as well, so chances are you’ve heard of them, or perhaps have even been to one.

However, the one locally here turned out to be rather poorly planned in it’s execution.

Beginning at 6:30, groups were meant to leave every 15 minutes, and your journey was to take an hour. Outside, in what turned out to be temps in the low twenties. So, I packed the kids in layers and full snow gear, and headed out.

The whole setup really did look very impressive. However, after spending 2 hours in line, I asked and was informed it would be at least another hour. I saw the next ‘group’ head out. A group of 10. And, at that point decided to leave.

It was opening night. Here’s hoping they get their act together for next year.

More Jack.

It’s been a crazy busy week, and the rest of December is going to be no better, so I’m sorry about the lack of updates.

Need to do some touchup. Trim the beard some. Paint the wiring. Etc. But, it’s coming along.
