Kyle…

Kyle’s costume has been the source of much consternation on my part.

The original plan was to have him in something of a home made ‘stalkabout’ styled costume. A moving Chimera, more or less. We had a frame all built, custom back pack, and were ready to start the puppeteering.

However, some things change, and I’m going to once again need his help with the standard operation of the yard. He can’t do that when he’s tied into a giant monstrosity.

He was, understandably, disappointed. It was shaping up to be a hell of a costume.

With Alec wanting to do Harry Potter, and Talia flipping between a “Rodeo Princess” and Sleeping Beauty, however, I do have some time to come up with something special instead of the plan B mask from last year. He’s just gotta trust me…

Now, this is NOT the standard means of accomplishing this by any stretch, but it is a cheap one.

That’s just some ‘rigid wrap’. Fairly simple and quick.

A gigantic mess later…

With the weather being lousy for the next few days, and the contest project on hold as a result, we can begin work on the nicest mask Kyle’s ever worn…

Gotta convince my wife to cast my head now.

Merchant Review: Spiders of the Web

It all started last year, with a knife.

Little did I know how hard these things would be to find. Fortunately, a kind soul sent us some last year. That enabled the party last year. But, we had more kids-than-knives, and I wanted to solve that problem THIS year.

I looked EVERYWHERE, and could not find a decent source of these things for a good price.

Sure, Pampered Chef had one. And there were a few kits out and about, but why pay for patterns and scoops I’ll never use? Heck, Gene the Pumpkin man even has his own with his name on them, but couldn’t find a way to purchase them over the internet, and Michigan is a little far for me.

Then I found The Spiders of the Web.

Not only did they have the knives, but they had them individually, for a buck. Heck, the prices all round the site seem to be better than your average Halloween store.

So, of COURSE I had to get, well, a few.

Had some concern when my order’s status did not get updated, adn they responded swiftly to my email inquiring about it. The box arrived the next day.

Sometimes it’s little things that make you smile. Such as an undead box…

I’m pleased to say the knives are a better quality as well. Much sturdier, sure grip handles…

I even got myself a fancy set.

And, we got a little freebie tossed in as well.

Price, customer service, and style.

It’s that time of year again.

Hmm, driving home, color starting to change, crisp 34 degree temps. Ah, IT IS TIME!

Lagoon has started their Halloween season.

With all this travel, I have pretty much settled in on what we’re doing for the year, and a lot of that is waiting for time to harvest. But, I gotta scratch the itch somehow…

Once again, I think we’ll enter the Guild Wars Halloween Art Contest.

Skipped it last year, after Charr had won in 2009. I think it’s time to go again, just to have a little fun with the season change. Now, to find a suitable subject….

Talia’s new friend(s)

We ended up delivering our third Chimera over to Diablo’s Dome on Saturday.

“Max”, as Talia named it.

Got a little tour of the place, and Talia got to say goodbye to “Max”.

While out in that part of town, we took the Talia and Alec over to The Living Planet Aquarium. Unforutnately, my camera battery had decided to go at that point.

We did get a little pic of Talia and one of her new friends, however.

Settling in on a tough week, myself. This is my time of year. It’s in the air, on the wind…and I’m on business travel.

Still, it’s provided me the opportunity to reunite with my own fears. Driving through a dark woods, listening to a scary book on tape about Bigfoot…
