Chimera update

The litany of problems with this head…

Anywho, onward and upward.

We decided on a whole new sculpt for the head after getting tired of trying to get something wired into the space we had on the old one. Further, we decided on a more minimalistic style, since the body has so much going on.

So, a little clay, and a little rigid wrap later, we had a quick and easy form to build on.

The overall concept of the head will flesh itself out in a bit. But, it’s starting to come together.

As for that other arm…I think we have found a solution there…

Loose ends…Tali-zander

Tying up some loose ends this weekend.

Talia’s little present, so she wasn’t left out of the whole “zander” situation, is finally complete. Metallic pink is harder to find than you would believe…

Again, a special thank you goes out to the this wonderful lady.

Source of both the cape AND the skirt this time. Now I just need to talk her into tackling that whole Dr Horrible coat…

When Kyle gets home, we’ll have to get the good camera out and get the whole ‘zander’ squad together for a photo shoot.

More Chimera fun

I’ve been meaning to utilize these things for a while…the Chimera fits nicely.

Slow going with attaching them, however, need to let the stuff dry completely before I can get the rest.

We did get her all wired perdy, however.

I especially like it, as we don’t use greens for the Harvest. All reds, oranges, warm colors. This will make it stand out even more.

Chimera, Jim, and Repo.

Been a while since an update.

My wife and I headed out to what it turning into an annual tradition on her birthday, the Repo shadowcast. It took me a few days to recover from that, and a few more to edit the pictures, since I was shooting in RAW.

The show was better this year, and the crowd was a whole lot better this year as well. Very fun time.

And, while recovering, with rain pouring down last weekend, I started thinking “why not make a whole torso in Jim style”…

Yes, it is as time consuming as it looks. But, we’ve started on the idea.

Then, with weather finally clearing this week, able to get some swimming in, I even got a little bit of work done on the Chimera.

For the second time, I made myself jump as the car headlights hit the thing while locking up last night.

It’s looking like a THING more than just a frame…

I shall call him Jim.

We’ve been too busy to update for a few weeks now, as you’ve noticed.

Well, I was out doing my normal routine of researching for inspiration. The subject at the time was the Moche civilization, specifically their trophy heads…and I stumbled onto something so completely unorthodox and beautiful, I knew I had to have one.

An artist in France, Jim is flat out amazing.

Well, I hope he believes that imitation is flattery…for I shall call him Jim.
